🔒 How to Reset the Root Password of Your VM

⚠️ Note: This applies only to VPS's that have password-based login enabled.

✅ Steps to Reset Your Root (or Administrator) Password

  1. Log in to the VPS Management Panel
    Go to https://vps.expanse.host

  2. Locate Your VPS
    Find your VPS in the list and click the "Manage" button.

  3. Open the Options Tab
    In the top navigation menu, click on the "Options" tab.

  4. Scroll Down to 'Root/Administrator Password'
    Find the section labeled "Root/Administrator Password" near the bottom of the page.

  5. Reset the Password

    • Click the "Reset Password" button.

    • In the "User" dropdown:

      • Select root for Linux VPSes.

      • Select Administrator for Windows VPSes.

  6. Confirmation Message
    You’ll see a message at the top of your screen:

    "Password Reset Successfully. The new password has been sent to your email address."

  7. Check Your Email
    Open your inbox associated with your Expanse account to find the new root/administrator password.


📌 Tips

  • Make sure to check spam/junk folders if you don't see the email.

  • For security, consider logging in and changing the password to something custom after the first login.
